Our Story at Puzzled®
The Genesis
The story of Puzzled® began with a simple, yet powerful realization: in an increasingly digital world, the tangible joy of puzzles and the communal experience of shared problem-solving were becoming lost arts. We envisioned a place where these joys could be rekindled—a place where individuals of all ages could gather to challenge their minds, explore their creativity, and reconnect with their inner child. This vision was fueled by our roots in Creative Crafthouse®, a family business established by Dan’s cousin, Dave Janelle, known for its diverse selection of handcrafted wood puzzles and games.
The Journey
Our path took its first steps in Southern California, where Dan began selling Dave’s puzzles at local markets. It was here that the seeds of Puzzled® were sown. Dan moved to Florida to learn the craftsmanship and help in the production of these items. Melanie, moving from Albuquerque to Florida, joined Dan, and together, they immersed themselves in the craft and community of puzzle-making. Their shared passion for puzzles and the joy they brought to people solidified their dream.
A Dream Realized
In 2019, longing to be closer to their roots and driven by a desire to share their passion with a broader audience, Dan and Melanie relocated to New Mexico. They found success at local markets and began to dream bigger. The pandemic of 2020, while challenging, could not dampen their spirits. Instead, it served as a catalyst, prompting them to establish a permanent home for their vision. The Poco a Poco Courtyard in Old Town Albuquerque became the cradle of Puzzled®, marking the beginning of a new chapter.
Today and Tomorrow
Puzzled® stands as a beacon of creativity, community, and connection. Our doors are open to all—children searching for fun, adults seeking a challenge, and elders looking to keep their minds sharp. Each puzzle and game in our collection, whether a product of our own design or a unique historical creation, is chosen with care, crafted to inspire and delight.
Our shop is more than a destination; it's a community hub where laughter fills the air, friendships are forged, and the joy of play is infectious.
