The Airplane Puzzle is a Kumiki style puzzle dating to the 1930's. The pattern can be found in Jerry Slocum's "New Book of Puzzles". It is moderate degree of difficulty puzzle that has the added pleasure of being tricky to take apart, as well as to put together. Although this typically goes to adults associated with airplanes, for a child it might double as a toy, as it will stay together nicely and is quite durable. Wheels (both front and back) and the propeller turn. There are 11 pieces when you get it apart. A secret locking pin holds everything in place until it is turned. As a puzzle, it is moderately difficult to reassemble recommended for ages 10+, but I think that younger ones 7+ could be taught.
The small size measures 6" across the wingspan and 6.5" long.
The jumbo size is an unusually large puzzle at 15" x 12" x 4.5" .
